

TOM LYNSKEY
PARTNER
Tom is a litigation partner who specialises in health law, maritime law, and criminal law.
He graduated LLB(Hons) from Victoria University of Wellington in 2015, where he was awarded the MLAANZ maritime law prize, and he was admitted to the bar in 2016.
Prior to joining Izard Weston in early 2021, Tom worked as a medico-legal and criminal specialist with a respected New Zealand accident compensation firm, arguing cases before the High Court and Court of Appeal.
Since joining Izard Weston, Tom has primarily advised decision-makers in the health law sector, combining an excellent ability to understand and articulate medico-legal evidence with proven advocacy skills. Clients regularly engage Tom for assistance in navigating particularly complex and difficult legal issues in this field.
Tom also practises in the areas of maritime law and litigation/dispute resolution, as well as undertaking criminal defence work for clients faced with regulatory offences under legislation such as the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Maritime Transport Act. In addition to this, Tom is a member of the Police Detention Legal Assistance (PDLA) scheme, and a duty lawyer.
